Senior Mobile Engineer - React Native, Platform/Infrastructure (all genders)

About the role: What's in the Box

As a Senior Mobile Engineer in the Consumer Foundations tribe, you'll join the Client Platform squad and work hands-on to help evolve our mobile platform. Alongside engineering and product teammates, you'll help move our white-labeled, multi-brand application from a native brownfield React Native setup toward a more scalable greenfield architecture. This is a chance to build strong technical foundations, contribute to shared tooling, and help a growing engineering organization ship reliable mobile software.

What you’ll do: The Recipe

At HelloFresh we are moving away from a model where software developers just execute tickets toward one where product engineers are trusted to own customer problems. A Product Engineer takes a problem, forms a point of view, validates it with customers and data, and ships it using AI as a force multiplier.

• Contribute to Migration Work: Help execute the brownfield-to-greenfield React Native migration within our white-labeled, multi-brand application ecosystem.
• Support Monorepo Scaling: Work within our React Native monorepo to support concurrent development across multiple squads, and help maintain shared npm packages used across mobile and web.
• Strengthen CI/CD: Help maintain and improve our CI/CD pipelines in Bitrise, and contribute to the team's ongoing evaluation of a future Expo migration.
• Build Test Automation: Design and extend end-to-end test coverage using Maestro, helping raise the bar for release quality and confidence across the app.
• Improve Observability: Build and maintain tracing and dashboards in Honeycomb to help the team make data-informed decisions about app health.
• Collaborate Across Squads: Partner with your Engineering Manager and teammates to review technical solutions and bring good engineering practices into your day-to-day work.
• Support Application Health: Help investigate and resolve production issues, contributing to a culture of stability and reliability.
• Document Decisions: Write clear technical documentation — design proposals, ADRs, or lightweight write-ups — appropriate to the scope of the work.

What you’ll bring: The Ingredients

• Hands-on experience working with AI tooling (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) beyond casual experimentation. You use AI agents every day. You have a practical sense of how the context you provide to AI tools shapes output quality, and how to set boundaries on AI-generated work.
• React Native & Native Mobile Expertise: Deep, production-tested expertise in React Native, combined with strong knowledge of both iOS and Android. You understand React Native's internal mechanics, performance profiling, native code bridging, platform-specific features and constraints, as well as the respective app store release processes. You are comfortable working across the full mobile stack to build and scale enterprise-grade applications.
• Agentic Engineering: Hands-on experience using AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) in production or near-production work. You think beyond prompts to context engineering—structuring specifications, tool configurations, and information flow so agents produce reliable output. You can decompose complex workflows across agentic components, identify unreliable outputs, and introduce the appropriate guardrails where needed.
• Scale-Minded Developer Experience: Proven track record of managing and optimizing workflows, linting, caching, and build times for large engineering organizations (50+ developers).
• Systems & Monorepo Thinker: Experience managing complex build configurations, white-label scaling, and monorepo architectures.
• High Autonomy & Accountability: You are comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy, making sound technical decisions in ambiguous situations, and supporting teams during complex production incidents.
• Deep mobile engineering expertise, with experience across the app release cycle, test automation, on-device performance and platform UX conventions.
• Exceptional Cross-Squad Influence: You have a proven ability to influence technical direction across multiple engineering teams through expertise, communication, and collaboration.
• You take full ownership. You have a bias to ship. You finish the last twenty percent.
• You have product sense and are opinionated about what should be built and why, and you can back that opinion with data and user evidence.
