From how we hire and develop our people to how we advance rigorous science, we are building a team committed to transforming medicine in autoimmune diseases, starting with the kidney.  Position Summary: The Field Medical Director, Trainer will report to the Vice President, Field Medical Team Leader and is a dual-function scientific leader responsible for elevating the scientific acumen, competitive intelligence capabilities, and insight-generation proficiency of the Field Medical organization. In addition to training responsibilities, this role maintains a defined geographic territory with full FMD responsibilities, ensuring all training remains grounded in real, contemporary field experience. This role focuses heavily on scientific training, data fluency, competitive landscape preparedness, scientific exchange excellence, and actionable insight collection while serving as a field-facing scientific ambassador within their region. Responsibilities: Facilitate scientific training for the field medical team focused on disease state, mechanism of action, clinical trial interpretation, and emerging scientific trends. Assist medical information in preparing the team for scientific milestones, including new data releases, congress presentations, advisory boards, and competitive shifts. Initiate scientific practice sessions including mock dialogues, objection-handling drills, and evidence-based scenario simulations. In conjunction with scientific communications, support scientific-readiness learning following major publications, pipeline updates, or competitive developments. Lead new-hire scientific onboarding with targeted scientific and real-world application exercises. Partner with field medical leadership to provide individualized coaching to enhance scientific fluency, medical credibility, and evidence-based communication. Strengthen team capability in identifying, interpreting, and communicating competitive intelligence gathered during scientific exchange, congresses, literature reviews, or field interactions. Communicate observed CI trends and insight themes to medical leadership and cross-functional partners, ensuring strategic translation and alignment. Maintain an assigned geographic territory and execute all core responsibilities of an FMD. Engage with KEEs through meetings (both face-to-face and virtual) as well as at congresses and advisory boards. Expected to deliver proactive disease state education, and reactive discussions regarding product and clinical trial data. Partner with Medical Communications, Publications, Clinical Development, HEOR, and Compliance to ensure scientific consistency and appropriate messaging. Participate in special projects as necessary. Travel required (up to 50%). Qualifications: MD, PharmD, or PhD, in Life Sciences. Minimum 3 years Medical Affairs experience required. Experience in facilitating external relationships, as well as a track record of success interacting with key internal and external stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal; comfortable and experienced in developing and giving presentations. Demonstrated excellence in scientific exchange and evidence interpretation. Meaningful experience with competitive intelligence collection, interpretation, and communication. Strong background in renal or immunologic disease preferred. Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to think creatively and innovatively. Must possess excellent planning and organizational skills. Team-player comfortable in fast-moving, dynamic environments.   Vera Therapeutics Inc. is an equal-opportunity employer. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geography, qualifications, skills, and experience. For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $185,000 — $255,000 USD At Vera, base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate will be eligible for an annual performance incentive bonus, new hire equity, and ongoing performance-based equity.
