Business Immigration Counsel

Position Summary This highly flexible role will allow the right candidate to work remotely without the administrative and client-development demands of a shareholder/partner track position.     Ogletree Deakins is one of the largest international law firms based in the U.S., with 60 offices throughout North America and Europe. We have one of the largest business immigration practices in the U.S.; our immigration practice group consists of experienced, dedicated immigration lawyers and paralegals who work with domestic and international corporations and businesses to develop strategies to facilitate the international transfer of skilled employees.    This position may be remote, but the successful candidate must reside in a state where we have a physical office.   We will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in the manner consistent with the  Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring.    Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for the position in accordance with the  Fair Chance Ordinance. Essential Functions This attorney's role will focus on reviewing immigration petitions for a full range of U.S. employment visas. While this role will not require working in the office, the attorney will be included in the firm’s annual in-person all-attorney retreat and will have access to the firm’s extensive learning and development resources and cutting-edge technology. Requirements Juris Doctor. Qualified candidates must be and remain licensed to practice law and be in good standing in their primary state of residence. A minimum of 5+ years of experience practicing business immigration as a licensed attorney. Experience working in a high-volume business immigration practice group. Outstanding academic credentials. Must be well-organized with the capacity to prioritize and take initiative in case management. Excellent skills in research and writing affidavits and briefs. Excellent proofreading, editing, reading comprehension, and time management skills. In accordance with New York State’s Wage Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this New York State position is between $170,000 and $170,000. In accordance with California’s amended labor code, as stated in Senate Bill 1162, the expected salary range for this California position is between $170,000 and $170,000. In accordance with the Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this Minnesota position is between $170,000 and $170,000. In accordance with New Jersey Senate Bill 2310, the expected salary range for this New Jersey position is between $170,000 and $170,000. In accordance with applicable laws and regulations, as of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current scale range for this position in Ohio is $170,000 and $170,000 annually. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. This position qualifies for the benefits below.
